Why are cigarettes addictive?

The addictive nature of cigarettes comes from nicotine. In comparison to tobacco, nicotine is not as harmful, but it’s the reason why quitting is so hard on most smokers. Actually, nicotine is a chemical that can be found in vegetables, fruits and even the body (without being a smoker).

Smoking transports nicotine much faster to the lungs and as such, the brain releases dopamine and makes you feel better. Tobacco is the main harming agent in cigarettes, in fact, it’s the main cause for cancer. Nonetheless, people still choose to keep smoking because it often gives a sense of relief and betterment.

When deciding to quit smoking, people usually experience harsh withdrawal symptoms. And while they last a relatively little while (around a week), many give up on their quitting endeavour due to the irritability, annoyance and angriness. Also, some might experience mood swings and fatigue, making quitting smoking even harder than it already is.

The market is full of medication, chewing gums and patches to help combat the pains of quitting smoking. However, cannabis can also be an interesting alternative as it helps reduce pain and discomfort.

How can cannabis help to quit smoking cigarettes?

Overtime, there have been studies made on the effects of cannabis, more precisely, of CBD on helping quitting cigarettes. The first study has shown that CBD has helped people quit substances of addictive nature. The second study we’ve looked at has been done on a sample of 24 individuals who smoked solely cigarettes divided into two groups. One part of the group was placed on a placebo treatment, while the other was given CBD inhalers.

The experiment took place over a week and while the placebo subjects didn’t notice any improvements, the same cannot be said about those who tried CBD. The results were very much noticeable. A considerable 40% of the subjects who used the inhaler actually quit smoking cigarettes within the week of the study.

Luckily, these studies are not the only ones about the benefits of CBD. In fact, you can find many about how CBD can help ease anxiety, stress and promote relaxation.

How to use cannabis to quit cigarettes?

There are several ways to consume cannabis or CBD to help you quit smoking. Quite often, smokers miss the act of smoking as much as they miss the effects of the chemicals on the brain. In fact, while marijuana doesn’t contain chemicals and it’s not as addictive, if you were to switch to joints, you’d still risk your health due to the carcinogens from the paper.

So, what’s the best way to consume CBD to help you quit? Well, vaporizers are a great option. These are tools that work by heating the buds or the oils and allow you to inhale them without damaging your lungs at the same level a joint or a cigarette would.

How to intake CBD?

There are plenty of options to consume CBD, but we’ll be discussing the three most known and used:

CBD strains

Many seed banks and breeders focus on the high-content of THC due to the majority’s preference for recreational uses. However, cannabis is not just THC. There are companies who still produce products that are not designed solely for those who want to enjoy the high.

If you want to experience the benefits of CBD through the buds, then consider buying and cultivating the seeds of strains with a high CBD content. If you don’t know where to start, check out our own CBD Auto. The extremely high 20% CBD and just 1% THC are definitely something to look forward to.

The best part of growing your own CBD strain is not only efficient for situations where it might not be legal to purchase cannabis. Moreover, you’ll have the ability to control each step of the way. This option is also more accessible long term thanks to the one-time initial cost for the growing setup.

CBD Oil

CBD Oils are also a great alternative to help you quit cigarettes. Quite easily found on the market, it’s also easy to find adulterated oils. That’s why, our main recommendation is to conduct a deep research into the oils offered by a company before you purchase. Verify lab testings and reports to make sure the oils have been under scrupulous analysis.

Another way to obtain CBD oil is to make it yourself at home. This, however, might require a bit more effort and time. Besides buying the seeds and cultivating them till they get to harvest time, you’d also have to process them to extract the oil. But, you’ll have the assurance of its contents and quality.

Use the oil in a vaporizer every time you feel the need to light up a cigarette.

CBD Inhalers

CBD inhalers are the same as traditional inhalers in terms of shape and form. These devices work by pushing CBD directly into the lungs, just like regular inhalers used for asthma.

These inhalers are very practical and easy to carry so you can use them any time you feel the urge to smoke. Evidently, it won’t give the same satisfaction as lighting a cigarette and putting it to your mouth, but the minimized risks for cancer are worth it.

In terms of options for CBD inhalers, there are two available: meter dose or dry powder. The first one works with aerosols, and the dry powder is basically CBD in powder form.

Aim to survive without cigarettes for one month and run towards a life with lowered health risks and no more freezing mornings in cold for a cigarette. Of course, no matter the product you choose, your motivation and consistency are the main drivers towards being smoke free!
